Fig.1 is a diatonic C Major 7 scale which is in Ionian mode meaning the scale starts in whole, whole, half. There are 7 modes in this position that I will post them all over the next few days. Learn these scales thoroughly, play them in ascending and descending order so it will become second nature to you. You must also practice these scales with a metronome set at a speed that you are comfortable with and gradually increase speed; as well you should practice these scales in all keys. Fig.2 is the second mode of the C Major Scale which if again another Ionian and that is whole, whole and a half step notes. Connect both of these together, play one of them ascending and the other one descending. Over the next few days when the rest of the modes arrive you will be able to connect these one with the rest. Have fun |
| Hey all. Sorry
for the slow update on these, but things are hectic. I will try to post
new lessons more often. Fig 3 and 4 are the continuation of the C Major
scale, try to go ascending on one and come up descending on the second
and the third and forth, until it's second nature to you. Start slowly
with a metronome and speed your way up gradually without sacrificing quality
and sound. Once you learn the scaled thorouly , try to play the notes
within these scales randomly , it's a good way to start developing your
own identity and soloing technique. Until next time. Have fun. |
